Thomas E. Fitzgerald, M.D. was born and raised in Quincy and after completing his education he returned to Quincy to practice surgery. He has been in practice in Quincy for the past thirty years. During this time he has served as President of the Medical Staff at Quincy Medical Center and as a member of the Board of Governors during very tumultuous times in which they successfully secured the future of the hospital. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of a large surgical organization – Specialty Care, LLC.

Governor Fitzgerald is a graduate of the Autonomous University of Guadalajara School of Medicine and was a Fifth Pathway student at Boston University Medical School. After his fifth Pathway year with BU, he completed his surgical internship and residency through Tufts University at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Governor Fitzgerald also served three years in the US army infantry, from 1969 to 1972. He holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Anselmo College.
