Sam Carstensen

Sam Carstensen has extensive experience in corporate law and commercial contracts. They are currently serving as the Senior Director & Senior Corporate Counsel at QuinStreet since July 2022. Prior to this role, they held the position of Director & Senior Corporate Counsel at QuinStreet from January 2021 to July 2022. Before joining QuinStreet, Sam worked as a Corporate Counsel at QuinStreet from March 2016 to January 2021, where they were responsible for negotiating, reviewing, and drafting various commercial agreements and advising on state and federal laws and regulations.

Sam also worked at Paymentwall, Inc. as a Legal Counsel from December 2013 to September 2015. At Paymentwall, they created company policies, contract review processes, and legal workflows, and provided business-focused advice on legal and regulatory matters related to e-commerce and electronic payments.

They also have experience as a Special Projects Counsel at Men's Wearhouse from April 2013 to December 2013, where they drafted and revised commercial contracts and provided legal advice on marketing campaigns and compliance.

Sam started their legal career as a Law Clerk / Contract Attorney at various Bay Area firms from August 2012 to April 2013. Prior to that, they served as a Certified Law Clerk at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office in 2011 and as a Law Clerk at the Pacific Justice Institute in 2010.

Before entering the legal field, Sam worked as a Litigation Project Assistant at DLA Piper from October 2007 to July 2009.

Sam Carstensen earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law from the University of California, Davis - School of Law, where they studied from 2009 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Management and Finance from The Master's University, where they enrolled from 2005 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, Carstensen also acquired two certifications. They completed the General Counsel Institute at Berkeley Law Executive Education in August 2022 and obtained The Certified Information Privacy Professional - United States (CIPP/US) certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) in September 2021.
