Tsung Li Liu

Tsung-li Liu has a diverse work experience spanning from 2003 to the present. In 2003, they held the role of Personnel Administrative Sergeant at the Republic of China Combined Logistics Command Military Band. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Harvard University, where they conducted research on design and fabrication of metal-optics devices, fabrication and tuning of InGaP-based photonic molecules coupled to InP quantum dots, and mentored beginning graduate students. From 2014 to 2016, they were a Postdoctoral Associate at the Janelia Research Campus, HHMI, Eric Betzig Lab (Nobel Laureate 2014), where they designed and set up a lattice light sheet microscope with aberration correction capability for in vivo high speed 3D imaging in living organisms. Their work was published on the cover of SCIENCE magazine. From 2016 to 2021, they were a Senior Research Scientist at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where they measured primary neuron activities under stimulation in vitro, designed a high speed, large field of view imaging system capable of whole well imaging with millisecond frame time, and integrated electrical and chemical stimulation to study cell composition in primary neuron culture. Since 2021, they have been a Staff Scientist at Element Biosciences, and since 2022, they have been the VP of Engineering at Qureator.

Tsung-li Liu received their Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 2001. Tsung-li then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Opto-electronic Engineering from National Taiwan University, which they completed in 2003. In 2005, they received their Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UC Santa Barbara. Finally, they completed their Ph.D in Engineering Science - photonics from Harvard University in 2013.
