Carlos Abellan

Carlos Abellan has over 8 years of experience in the technology industry. In 2017, they became the Cofounder & CEO of Quside, a company that develops quantum random number generators (QRNGs). Prior to this, they were a Co-Founder at Finboot in 2016, where they developed MARCO, an ecosystem which brings together blockchain technologies. From 2012 to 2016, they were a PhD Researcher and Master of Science Research Intern at ICFO. During this time, they developed quantum randomness generation technologies, novel tools for characterising randomness generated by physical devices, and worked on the phase diffusion process in semiconductor lasers. Additionally, they demonstrated the fastest quantum random number generation scheme ever reported and developed an ultra bright source of entangled photons.

Carlos Abellan obtained a Master's Degree in Photonics from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in 2014, after obtaining an Engineer's Degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the same university between 2008 and 2013. Carlos also attended the Catalonia - UC Berkeley Lean LaunchPad Course, Entrepreneurship at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, where they studied Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies.
