Charley Cooper

Charley Cooper currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Advisor at Ava Labs since August 2024. With extensive experience in leadership and advisory roles, Charley has held the position of Senior Advisor at R3 since August 2015 and previously served as Chief Communications Officer and Managing Director of Public and Government Relations there. Prior roles include Senior Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for Trading & Clearing at State Street Global Exchange, Director at Deutsche Bank, and Chief Operating Officer at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Additionally, Charley has experience as Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Defense at the United States Department of Defense and has worked as an Associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Charley began professional involvement in government as a volunteer speechwriter for the U.S. Attorney General and as Assistant Press Secretary for Dole/Kemp '96. Charley holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Georgetown University.
