Gwen Zimmer

Gwen Zimmer has several years of experience in finance and accounting roles. Gwen started their career as an Accounting Technician at the City of Kenosha in 2010, where they were responsible for tasks such as cash counting, bookkeeping, and accounts receivable. Gwen also assisted with the annual budget and financial audit. In 2015, they became an Accounting Supervisor, overseeing eight departments and managing a $15 million expense budget. Gwen was responsible for accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, payroll, year-end closing, financial reporting, and audits. After that, they worked as a Finance Manager at Racine County from 2017 to 2019. In this role, they were in charge of maintaining and administering the County's financial system. Gwen provided customer service and support to the accounting and finance staff and managed system development and enhancement projects. From 2019 to 2021, they served as the Fiscal Manager for the Health and Human Services Department at Racine County. Gwen'sresponsibilities included handling all accounting functions, preparing the annual budget, filing state and federal reports, and reviewing and approving vendor contracts. Recently, they have been serving as the Interim Finance Director and currently as the Finance Director for Racine County.

Gwen Zimmer obtained a Master's degree in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University in the years 2019 to 2020. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Upper Iowa University from 2012 to 2015. Before their Bachelor's degree, Gwen completed an Associate's degree in Accounting from Gateway Technical College in the years 2008 to 2010.
