Blair Ellington

Manager, Mechanical Engineering at Rad Power Bikes

Blair Ellington has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles.

They started their career as an NCAA Scholarship Athlete at Drury University, where they played baseball from 2005 to 2009. After that, they worked as a Student Assistant Athletic Equipment Manager at the University of Oklahoma from 2009 to 2011.

Blair then gained practical experience as a Co-Op Project Engineer at Valspar, LLC, where they worked on optimizing and updating the manufacturing process of paint during a 15-month student internship.

Following their time at Valspar, Blair joined GE Oil & Gas as an Edison Engineer, completing three rotations. In their first rotation, they worked on motor design for Electric Submersible Pumps. In the second rotation, they focused on pump NPI design engineering. During this time, they analyzed materials, developed new designs, and evaluated bearing and high-pressure pumps. They then transitioned to the role of Mechanical and Materials Engineer for the New Product Introduction (NPI) team at GE Oil & Gas. Here, Blair performed various engineering tasks, such as hand calculations, mathematical modeling, CAD design, FEA, and experiment design for validation testing. They also managed material qualifications, material failure analysis, and provided regional support for material recommendations based on specific well data for Artificial Lift (AL) equipment.

Blair later joined Baker Hughes, a GE company, as a Lead Mechanical and Materials Engineer for the New Product Introduction (NPI) team. In this role, they led and managed multiple mechanical and materials NPI R&D design projects for artificial lift equipment. They performed calculations, developed complex models, produced CAD models and drawings, conducted FEAs, and designed experiments for validation testing of prototypes. They also provided material recommendations based on well data analysis.

Most recently, Blair has started working as a Senior R&D Manager at Axe Bat. Their responsibilities include leading research and development initiatives.

In 2022, Blair began working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Rad Power Bikes.

Overall, Blair Ellington has demonstrated expertise in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, product development, and project management across various industries.

Blair Ellington has a strong educational background, with multiple degrees and certifications. They began their education at Drury University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Physics and Mathematics from 2006 to 2009. Subsequently, Blair attended the University of Oklahoma from 2010 to 2013, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Lastly, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Materials Science at North Carolina State University from 2014 to 2016.

In addition to their degrees, Blair Ellington achieved two certifications. In 2012, they were certified as a LSS Yellow Belt by Valspar Paint, LLC. Later, in 2016, they became LSS Green Belt Certified through GE Oil & Gas.
