Maarten Schurink

Chief Medical Information Officer Amalia Children’s Hospital at Radboudumc

Maarten Schurink has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Maarten started their career at the University Medical Center Groningen, where they worked as a Senior House Officer in Thoracic Surgery and General Surgery. Maarten then progressed to roles as a Surgical Registrar in General and Pediatric Surgery, followed by a Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery. Later, they became a Consultant Pediatric Surgeon at the same institution.

In 2014, Schurink joined the Women's and Children's Hospital in North Adelaide as part of the Department of Pediatric Surgery. Maarten worked there until September 2014.

Since 2014, Schurink has been working at Radboudumc, where they have held various positions. Maarten started as a Consultant Pediatric Surgeon and then became a Donor Procurement Surgeon. In 2019, they took on the role of Medical Care Manager at the Amalia Children's Hospital, and in September 2020 they became the Chief Medical Information Officer at the same hospital.

Maarten Schurink completed their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at the University of Groningen from 1995 to 2002. Maarten also pursued studies in Medicine at the University of Leuven, Belgium, from 1994 to 1995. In addition, they studied French Language and Literature at the Institut Francais des Alpes in Chambéry, France, from 1993 to 1994. Maarten Schurink attended the Lorentz Lyceum (gymnasium) in Eindhoven from 1987 to 1993. Maarten has obtained certifications in Multi-Organ Donor Procurement Surgery from the Dutch Transplant Foundation (NTS) in 2018, and a PhD in medical sciences from the University of Groningen in 2016 with their thesis titled "The Compromised Gut in the Neonate - Diagnostic and Clinical Aspects".
