Thijs Merkx

Thijs Merkx serves as the Chief Executive Officer at IKNL (Integraal Kankercentrum Nederland) since December 2019 and holds multiple academic titles at Radboudumc, including Hoogleraar Trends en Patronen in Kanker en Zorg and Hoogleraar Mond-, Kaak- en Aangezichtsoncologie en Orale Geneeskunde. Responsibilities at Radboudumc include leading initiatives in E-health and quality of care, chairing the UMC Raad, overseeing peri-operative safety, and contributing to medical accreditation as Medical Officer for JCI. As Directeur of Zelfstandig Behandel Centrum Kaakchirurgie en Implantologie since February 2005 and founder of Stichting Mond-en Kaakchirurgie Tanzania, Thijs Merkx aims to improve oral and maxillofacial surgery standards and access in Tanzania. Previously served as chair of the Dutch Working Group on Head and Neck Tumors and held various leadership roles in promoting quality in complex healthcare. Educational background includes a medical degree and advanced qualifications from Radboud University and the University of Groningen, along with leadership training from the School of Leadership by Ebbinge and TIAS School for Business and Society.
