Bethany M Usher is the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at Radford University since June 2023. Usher has held various roles at George Mason University since 2010, including Affiliate Faculty Member in the Sociology and Anthropology Department, where Usher has taught biological anthropology courses and mentored undergraduate research projects. Previous positions also include Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education, overseeing a large undergraduate population and experiential education initiatives, and Director of Students as Scholars, which has supported extensive undergraduate research participation. Prior to George Mason University, Usher was Associate Director at the Center for Teaching Excellence at SUNY Potsdam, where Usher founded the Center for Undergraduate Research. Academic credentials include a PhD in Biological Anthropology from Penn State University, an MA in Bioarchaeology from Arizona State University, and a BA in Anthropology and Biology from the University of Virginia.
