James W. Robey

Dance Program Coordinator, Summer Residential Governor's School For Visual & Performing Arts at Radford University

James W. Robey, MFA, currently serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Dance at Radford University since August 2018, where responsibilities encompass strategic planning, recruitment, and community partnerships. Robey has led the development of key initiatives such as a Shared Vision, Strategic Plan, Branding Plan, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Systems Model. Previous roles include Executive Director of the Summer Residential Governor's School for Visual & Performing Arts and Humanities, Interim Dean of the College of Visual & Performing Arts, and Chair/Associate Professor of Dance at Webster University. An accomplished artistic director, Robey has extensive experience in nonprofit contemporary dance organizations, significantly enhancing enrollment and financial stability in programs at the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance. Educational qualifications include an MFA in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a BFA in Dance from The University of Akron.
