Sastry Putcha

Chief Engineer at RADISE International

Sastry Putcha has extensive work experience in the field of geotechnical engineering. Sastry began their career as a Research Associate at Mississippi State University in 1977 and then worked as a Project Engineer at the Mississippi State Highway Department from 1979 to 1984. Sastry then joined BEC Construction as a Consulting Engineer from 1984 to 1988. Starting in 1988, they worked at the Florida Department of Transportation as a District/State Construction Geotechnical Engineer until 2011. During this time, they served as the Geotechnical Engineer of Record for major bridge projects. From 1993 to 2003, they held the position of Visiting Professor at Florida State University and served as a member of the Advisory Committee for Ph.D. students at several universities. In 2011, they joined RADISE International as a Consulting Engineer and later became the Chief Engineer. In 2014, they joined Smart Structures as the Chief Geotechnical Engineer.

Sastry Putcha has a Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from North Carolina State University, which they completed in 1983. Prior to that, they obtained a M.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1972, and a B.Tech. degree in Civil Engineering from the same institution in 1966. Additionally, they obtained a second Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from North Carolina State University. The start years for each of these degrees are not provided.
