Alaina Heinen, MS, LCGC, currently serves as a Clinical Genomics Analyst at Rady Children's Institute for Genomic Medicine since July 2021. Prior experience includes roles such as a Pediatric Genetic Counseling Intern at MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital and a Genetic Counseling Assistant at CHOC Children's. Alaina gained further experience through internships at UCI Health and Invitae, focusing on adult and prenatal genetic counseling and variant interpretation. Additionally, Alaina has coordinated clinical oncology trials as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the University of California San Diego and has held various research positions, including managing lab operations and conducting experiments on genetic eye mutations. Alaina earned an MS in Genetic Counseling from UC Irvine and a BS in Biochemistry with a minor in Global and Public Health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
