In 2011, a small group of highly determined IIT Madras students found a team to compete in prestigious international Formula Student competition series and successfully developed a single seater open-wheeled race car to compete against some of the best talent from around the globe. They called it, Raftar Formula Racing. Today, Raftar Formula Racing has evolved into one of the most respected and recognised Formula student racing teams in the country, heading towards a strong ninth season equipped with eight years of competition experience in esteemed events such as Formula Student Germany, Formula Bharat, Formula Student UK and Formula Student Italy. The depth of knowledge discovered by the team has led to development of  a strong foundation to achieve our next set of goals as we continue to aim higher, to become a world renowned team in the field of Formula Student racing. We wish to establish a strong network among Indian teams and produce the next generation of smart, capable and experienced automotive engineers.
