Markus Pichler is a seasoned professional in the field of reservoir engineering and energy storage, currently serving as the Head of Reservoir Engineering Energy Storage at RAG Austria AG since December 2012. With extensive experience as a Senior Reservoir Engineer and Expert in Underground Hydrogen Storage, Markus has managed various energy infrastructure projects, focusing on subsurface energy storage solutions including hydrogen and HT-ATES systems. Prior roles include significant contributions to natural gas storage facilities, brownfield developments in super-mature gas fields, and microbial and geochemical assessments of subsurface reservoirs. Markus holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Montanuniversität Leoben and has completed multiple internships in different engineering capacities, contributing to a well-rounded expertise in energy storage and reservoir management.
