John Baison is a seasoned professional in the field of plant breeding and genomics, currently serving as the Cereal Genomics and Research Manager at RAGT since November 2020. With a strong focus on whole genome analysis methods, John leads collaborations in pre-competitive research to enhance molecular breeding activities. In addition to this role, John holds a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship aimed at integrating advanced genomic tools into commercial wheat breeding to benefit UK agriculture. Prior experience includes serving as a Cereal Geneticist at RAGT Seeds UK, where responsibilities encompassed marker-assisted selection and genomic strategies. John's academic background is highlighted by a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of the Western Cape and a Project Management certificate from The Open University. Further experience includes research positions focused on molecular breeding and genotyping techniques.
