Rain City Rock Camp
Rain City Rock Camp uses music to empower girls, women, and gender non-conforming individuals to engage their creative potential, champion equity, and thrive in a community of allies and activists. At our week-long camps, participants choose between guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and keys and receive instrument instruction from local musicians. Participants form bands, write an original song and practice it with coaching. At the end of the week, each band performs their song live on stage. We also conduct workshops related to empowerment, self-expression and self-esteem. Our campers benefit from a safe space that eliminates the restrictive stereotypes about music and gender, and we encourage speaking up, singing out, and making noise. At camp, our participants experience collaboration and camaraderie as well as the ultimate feeling of triumph that comes with learning a new skill and performing in front of an audience.
