The Rainbow PUSH Coalition (RPC) is a multi-racial, multi-issue, progressive, international membership organization fighting for social change. Its mission is to protect, defend, and gain civil rights by leveling the economic and educational playing fields, and to promote peace and justice around the world.The issues the organization focuses oninclude poverty and hunger, peace and justice, gun violence, home foreclosure, corporate inclusion, and voter registration.The Rainbow PUSH Coalition was formed in December 1996 by Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. through the merging of two organizations he founded earlier: People United to Serve Humanity, which was founded in 1971; and the Rainbow Coalition, which was founded in 1984. The organization is headquartered in Chicago, United States with offices in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Oakland.
