Roarke Horstmeyer

Roarke Horstmeyer has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and institutions. Roarke started their career at MITRE Corporation as an Engineer from December 2007 to April 2009. Roarke then pursued further education at MIT Media Lab, where they served as a Graduate Student from August 2009 to August 2011. In 2012, Roarke co-founded Beansprock, a company focused on innovative technologies. Roarke held the role of Co-founder until August 2014. Roarke then joined the California Institute of Technology as a Graduate Student from September 2011 to October 2015. Roarke went on to work at Charite Medical School as an Einstein Postdoctoral Fellow from February 2016 to June 2018. In 2018, Roarke assumed the role of Interim Chief Technology Officer at Kernel from February to July. Roarke subsequently became an Assistant Professor at Duke University in July 2018 and also assumed the role of Scientific Director at Ramona Optics in June 2018.

Roarke Horstmeyer completed their education in a chronological manner. Starting in 2003, they attended Duke University for four years and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Japanese in 2007. Following this, from 2009 to 2011, Horstmeyer enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where they pursued further studies in the Media Lab, eventually earning a Master of Science degree. Lastly, Horstmeyer attended Caltech from 2011 to 2015, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical Engineering.
