Mike earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the School of Business University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1973. He was employed with Consolidated Pipe and Supply Co., Inc. (CPS) from 1969 to 1976 during which the corporation grew from about $12 million in sales to over $100 million in sales. He was given the opportunity to work in sales, credit management, setting up new branches, designing the computer systems and as a corporate problem solver working directly for the president of CPS. In 1976 he started his career in public accounting and formed his own CPA firm in 1978. The firm is now Jackson, Howard & Whatley, CPA’s with about 1,200 family clients and about 400 business clients. The focus of his career has been to help entrepreneurs be successful.
