Jose Murillo

Jose Murillo has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several prominent organizations. Jose is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at RappiCard México. Previously, they held various roles at Grupo Financiero Banorte, starting as the Advisor to the President of the Board before becoming the Chief Analytics Officer. In these positions, they played a vital role in establishing the Analytics Business Unit, implementing projects that significantly impacted Banorte's profitability, and promoting the use of analytics within the firm.

Prior to their time at Banorte, Jose worked at Banco de México, the country's Central Bank. Jose'sroles included Chief Information Officer, where they oversaw the staff's perspective on inflation for monetary policy decisions and modernized the CPI measurement. Jose also served as the Research Deputy Director, presenting inflation views to the Monetary Policy Committee and advising on central bank issues. Additionally, they were an Advisor to the Board, providing guidance on financial regulation and estimating the cost of government rescue packages for distressed banks.

In 2006, Jose Murillo briefly served as a Consultant to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) while still working at Banco de México. During this time, they advised the IMF on macroeconomic data methodologies, led missions in Ecuador and Chile for quality improvements, and participated in standard and codes missions.

Jose Murillo earned a BA in Economics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México between the years 1986 to 1990. Jose then pursued further education at Rice University, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from 1992 to 1997.
