Joel Aponte-Guzmán

Joel Aponte-Guzmán has extensive work experience in the field of medicinal chemistry and research. Joel currently holds the position of Scientist II at RAPT Therapeutics, where they have been working since 2023. Prior to that, they were a Senior Scientist at R2M Pharma, Inc. from 2021 to 2023.

Before transitioning into industry, Joel gained research experience at Acme Bioscience Inc, where they worked as a Senior Research Scientist from 2019 to 2021 and as a Research Scientist from 2017 to 2021.

Joel began their career in academia at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they served as a Graduate Research/Teaching Assistant and NSF-GRFP Fellow from 2010 to 2015.

During their undergraduate studies, they were a Research Assistant at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, from 2008 to 2010, focusing on the study of new asymmetric organoborane conversions. Joel also gained research experience as an undergraduate at the Georgia Institute of Technology and NC State University in 2009 and 2008, respectively.

Joel Aponte-Guzmán pursued their education in a systematic manner, diligently acquiring the necessary qualifications. Beginning in 2006, they attended the Universidad de Puerto Rico, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry in 2010. Demonstrating a passion for the subject, they furthered their studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2010 to 2015. During this time, Joel dedicated himself to the field of Organic Chemistry, ultimately achieving a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.
