John Newton

John Newton is an accomplished technology executive and investor with a diverse background in innovation and strategic leadership. Currently serving as Chief Innovation Strategist at Hyland since May 2025, John leads initiatives to enhance the enterprise content management market through AI and open-source solutions. As an investor, John is involved with multiple companies, including Quantly, lunar.dev, unstructured.io, Careignition, and Rasa, focusing on cutting-edge AI technologies. Previously, John held board positions at Percona and Weaveworks, and served as Chief Strategy Officer and Board Member at Agile Growth Corporation, which successfully went public in March 2021. John founded Alfresco, an open-source software company, and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, alongside further education at Oxford and LSE.
