Ben Durbin

Head of Impact at Raspberry Pi Foundation

Ben Durbin has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Starting in 2005, they worked at Steer Davies Gleave as an Assistant Consultant, Consultant, and Senior Consultant, focusing on providing evidence and analysis in the transport sector. Ben conducted research projects for the European Commission and supported transaction support in infrastructure and service improvements.

In 2009, Ben joined the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) and took on multiple roles. As Senior Research Manager, they conducted research and analysis in education and youth services, specializing in policy design and evaluation. Ben then became the Head of Impact, working closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees to raise the profile of NFER and its research, engaging with policymakers, and translating research findings into key messages for policy and practice.

Within NFER, Ben also served as the Head of International Education, where they established the Centre for International Education and developed a portfolio of new business in low-middle income countries. Ben directed large, complex projects across multiple countries, overseeing research design and stakeholder engagement.

In 2021, Ben became an Executive Committee Member at UKFIET, contributing to the promotion and strengthening of international education and development.

Currently, Ben is the Head of Impact at the Raspberry Pi Foundation. In this role, they ensure the foundation has the necessary evidence to evaluate its impact, target efforts effectively, continuously improve, and share findings with partners. The Raspberry Pi Foundation empowers young people to use technology for good and provides learning experiences, curriculum, resources, and training for educators.

Ben Durbin completed their Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 2004. Ben further pursued their education and obtained a Master's degree in Economics from Royal Holloway, University of London, in 2005.
