Sebastián Plata Duarte

Sebastián Plata Duarte has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Sebastián currently works as a Software Engineer at RateMyAgent since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Placie from 2020 to 2022, where they were part of a four-person engineering team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining new functionalities and components on a serverless environment using AWS services.

Before joining RateMyAgent, Sebastián worked at carsales.com.au from 2018 to 2020. Sebastián'sduties at carsales.com.au included supporting and extending functionality in existing applications, building new components and applications using the Carsales framework, and creating CI/CD pipelines for new projects and components.

From 2016 to 2018, Sebastián worked at FLIP, where they were involved in a variety of projects ranging from supporting a monolithic legacy platform to working on greenfield projects in logistics and warehousing. Sebastián used various technologies and methodologies such as microservices, event-oriented architecture, C#, .Net, VueJS, and Typescript.

Sebastián also gained experience as a Software Support and Application Developer at efm Logistics Services Group in 2015, a Software Engineer at Bookadata PTY LTD in 2014-2015, and a Research Assistant at Monash University in 2014.

Prior to that, they worked as an IT Specialist at ISSC subsidiary IBM from 2012 to 2013, where they were involved in gathering user information, requirements analysis, and development of user requirements for information systems. Sebastián also worked as a Junior Software Engineer at ITAC S.A. from 2010 to 2012, where they developed secure transfer software using Java SE, Java EE, and GlassFish.

Sebastián Plata Duarte started their education by earning a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Sebastián attended the university from 2006 to 2011.

Later, they pursued a Master's Degree in Information Technology from Monash University. Sebastián studied at Monash University from 2014 to 2015.

In addition to their formal education, Sebastián also obtained a certification as an Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE 6 Programmer in June 2012 from Oracle.
