Ajay Purohit

Head, Translational Chemistry at Ratio Therapeutics

Ajay Purohit has a strong background in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries. Ajay is currently working as the Head of Translational Chemistry at Ratio Therapeutics since August 2021. Previously, they held a position at Biogen for six years, starting in February 2015 as Associate Director. In this role, they led translational imaging projects and managed scientific alliances. Before that, they worked at SciFluor Life Sciences as Director of Radiochemistry, focusing on the evaluation and development of new technologies for imaging biomarkers. Ajay also has experience as a Problem Solver, proposing solutions for synthesis problems and working on molecule selection for large-scale applications. Ajay started their career at Bristol-Myers Squibb in 2001, where they held multiple roles including Sr. Research Investigator, leading projects related to the discovery of lead compounds for congestive heart failure detection and coronary artery disease.

Ajay Purohit holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Northeastern University, which they obtained from 1996 to 2001. Prior to that, they completed their MS in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, between 1990 and 1995. In terms of professional development, they have also taken various courses at prestigious institutions such as Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and the Harvard Extension School, focusing on areas such as Leading and Sustaining a Culture of Innovation, Creating and Managing Strategic Alliances, and Influence and Persuasion in Leadership.
