George Barrett is an accomplished cybersecurity expert with extensive experience in advanced data collection and analysis, particularly with Splunk technologies. As the Founder and CEO of Rational Cyber LLC since July 2016, George leads a team focused on solving complex cybersecurity issues, encompassing areas such as incident response and compliance. Previously, as Chief Cyber Quant at Qmulos LLC, George specialized in quantitative analysis for cybersecurity investments and the development of insider-threat applications. George’s early career includes roles such as Technical Director for Integrated Adaptive Cyber Defense at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where assessments of cybersecurity technologies were conducted, and Quantitative Cyber Security Analyst at the same laboratory, where financial engineering principles were applied to risk management. Additionally, George held strategic roles with the US Department of Homeland Security and the US Army. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Decentralized and Distributed Systems from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
