Kamalakar Karlapalem

Kamalakar Karlapalem is a seasoned academic with extensive experience in computer science and data analytics. Currently serving as a Professor and the Head of the Data Science and Analytics Centre at IIIT Hyderabad since December 2000, Kamalakar also leads the Agents and Applied Robotics Group at the Kohli Centre for Intelligent Systems. Previously held the role of Dean Academics, overseeing a significant curriculum revamp from 2006 to 2008. Additional experience includes positions as Product and Research Advisor at Rygbee, In-Charge Dean Academics at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, SriCity, and Professor at IIT Gandhinagar. Kamalakar's earlier roles include faculty positions at the Indian School of Business and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, along with a strong foundation in software engineering and database design. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology and an M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur.
