Senior Research And Development Engineer at RayGen

Dave McDonald has extensive experience in the field of research and development. Dave is currently employed as a Senior Research and Development Engineer at RayGen since April 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Planet Innovation as a Principal Optical Engineer from January 2019 to April 2023, and as a Senior Optical Engineer from October 2016 to January 2019. Before that, they were employed at Agilent Technologies as an R&D Scientist from November 2015 to September 2016, and as an Applications Scientist - Atomic Spectroscopy from December 2014 to November 2015. Dave also served as a Laboratory Manager - Analytical Spectroscopy at Spectrometer Services from February 2013 to December 2014. Dave started their career as a Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology from March 2010 to December 2011, and as a Research Assistant at Solar Systems PTY LTD from February 2008 to August 2009. Dave also completed an internship in ultrafast spectroscopy at Swinburne University of Technology in November to December 2003. Dave's early experience includes working as an Industrial Chemist at Empire Rubber from January to December 2001.

Dave McDonald attended Swinburne University of Technology from 1999 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemistry. In 2003, they pursued further studies at the same institution and completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) degree in Chemistry. Dave then proceeded to obtain a PhD in Chemical physics with a specialization in femtosecond resolved laser spectroscopy from Swinburne University of Technology, which they pursued from 2004 to 2013. Additionally, in 2001, they attended a short course in Scanning Electron Microscope training at La Trobe University.
