David Simmons

David holds more than 33 years of combined industry and IP consulting experience. He has been a Registered United States Patent Agent since 1998. In his role as a Patent Agent, he specialises in analysis, cultivation, protection and invalidation of patent matters. He has prepared and prosecuted in excess of 900 patent applications in the mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software arts. Additionally, he is highly skilled in prior art searching, patent re-examination, patent inter partes review, competitive IP analysis, and patent portfolio management. During his 10-year career as an engineer, David developed expertise in the area of product development and product commercialization. He led several product commercialization teams within 3M’s Electrical Products Division and served as Intellectual Property Scientist for 3M’s Electronic Products Division. David received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
