David Shim

David Shim is the Co-Founder and CEO of Read. Prior to Read, David was the Chief Executive Officer of Foursquare from June 2019 to December 2020. During their time at Foursquare, David led the company to its first full year of profitability and delivered 2H YoY growth in the face of CV-19. David also oversaw the acquisition and integration of Placed through a spinout from Snapchat.

Before Foursquare, David was the Founder and CEO of Placed, a location-driven insights company that they started in January 2011. Under David's leadership, Placed grew to become the leader in location insights with over $150MM in revenue to date. In June 2017, Placed was acquired by Snapchat for $175MM and in June 2019, David oversaw the spinout of Placed from Snapchat to Foursquare.

David Shim earned their BA in Political Science from the University of Washington.
