Gavin Handford

Gavin Handford is an accomplished public sector leader with extensive experience in policy, performance, and customer services. Currently serving as the Assistant Director for Policy, Performance and Customer Services at Reading Borough Council since April 2023, Gavin previously held multiple strategic leadership roles at Croydon Council from September 2018 to April 2023, including Director of Policy Programmes & Performance and Interim Head of Policy & Communities. Prior experience includes a tenure as Head of Policy, Performance & Governance at Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, where strategic advice was provided to the Chief Executive, along with various managerial roles at Surrey County Council. Gavin holds an MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School and a Master of Science in Public Management from the University of Birmingham, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in Social Policy & Public Management from the University of Kent.
