Katie Smith

Katie Smith, PHR, SHRM-CP, began their work experience in 2008 at Major Drilling International, Inc. where they held various roles, including HR Manager and HR Benefits Administrator/HR Assistant. During their time there, they were responsible for strategic HR initiatives, recruitment, compensation, employee relations, and policy development. Katie also managed a team of HR professionals and administrators. In 2020, Katie joined Westinghouse Electric Company as a Human Resource Operations Manager, where they oversaw HR operational programs and processes and ensured compliance with laws and regulations. Katie later served as the Human Resource Director at Stadler US from January 2021 to November 2021. Currently, Katie is the Director of People and Culture at Reading Horizons, a role they began in November 2021. Katie is also a Board Member at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: Utah Chapter, where they help create a world without blood cancers through education, support, research, and advocacy. Additionally, they volunteered as a Child Volunteer Protection Advocate at AYSO from March 2021 to June 2022. Katie's work experience demonstrates their expertise in HR operations, leadership, and strategic initiatives.

Katie Smith, PHR, SHRM-CP, earned their Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Human Resource Management from Weber State University, completing their studies from 2003-2008. Additionally, they obtained the SHRM-CP certification from SHRM in 2015 and the PHR certification from HR Certification Institute - HRCI.
