Monaz began their career at the World Health Organization in August 1999 as the Head of Department for Prosthesis & Orthotics. In this role, they were responsible for setting up workshops in rural India in 5 regions. Monaz left the World Health Organization in August 2001 to take on a role as a technical sales representative at Smith & Nephew where they worked from June 1997 to July 1999.

Monaz Karkaria has a master's degree in marketing/marketing management from SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). Monaz also has a bachelor's degree in orthotics/prosthetics from the All India Institute Of Physical Medicine And Rehabilitation.
