Cary Forest, a Co-Founder, CSO, and acting CTO at Realta Fusion since January 2022, is also a Professor of Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since April 1997. Additionally, Cary serves as the Director of the Wisconsin Plasma Physics Laboratory since January 2018. With prior experience as a Scientist at General Atomics from 1992 to 1997 and as a Graduate Student at Princeton Plasma Physics Lab from 1986 to 1992, Cary holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysical Sciences from Princeton University, along with a Master of Arts and Bachelor's degrees in related fields from the same institution and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, respectively.

Realta Fusion is an early-stage spin-out from the University of Wisconsin-Madison developing the lowest capital and least complex path to commercially competitive fusion energy. We are applying advances in super-conducting materials, plasma physics, and computing power to a simple linear fusion reactor configuration. These advances allow for a much lower capex power plant, utilizing abundant fuel sources to provide a new, zero-carbon source of heat and power.
