Ksenya Cohen Katsenelson has worked in the field of biochemistry since 2004. Ksenya began their career as a Master's candidate in the laboratory of Dr. Moshe Feinsod at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, where they studied decompression sickness disease and developed a hyperbaric oxygen pretreatment method in prawns and rats to reduce bubble formation during decompression. Ksenya then transitioned to a Doctoral candidate in the laboratory of Dr. Ami Aronheim, where they biochemically characterized a new scaffold protein, WDR62, in the JNK signaling pathway.
In 2013, Ksenya began a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in the laboratory of Dr. Alexandra Newton at the University of California San Diego. During their time there, they collaborated with multiple groups of scientists on projects involving cancer studies, diabetes, inflammation, and epigenetics. Ksenya also reviewed five manuscripts for scientific journals and submitted four manuscripts, of which one is published at a PNAS journal, one is published at JCB journal and one is currently in revision. Ksenya applied for multiple grants and fellowships and received a T32 cancer training grant from the NIH/NCI for one year.
In 2018, Ksenya began working at Eurofins Discovery as a Senior Scientist and Group Leader in San Diego R&D. Currently, they are a Senior Scientist, Discovery Technology at Recludix Pharma, where they are conceiving, executing, interpreting, and troubleshooting novel molecular and biochemical assays to accelerate discovery and characterization of novel chemical matter targeting disease-driving proteins. Ksenya is also the program co-lead in early stages of hit ID and is managing external key discovery collaborations with CROs, focused on the applications of novel technologies. Additionally, they are presenting data, hypotheses, and strategies at recurring and ad hoc team meetings that include medicinal and computational chemists, biologists, and structural biologists.
Ksenya Cohen Katsenelson received their Bachelor's degree in Biology, General from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology between 2001 and 2004. Ksenya then went on to earn their Master of Science (MSc) in Biomedical Sciences from the same institution between 2005 and 2007. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Sciences from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology between 2008 and 2012.
