Ryan Chui has had a varied and successful career, beginning with a Student Brand Ambassador role at Kaplan in 2015. Ryan then worked as a Research Associate at the University of Washington in the same year, and a year later, they were a Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at the same university. In 2016, they worked as a Software Developer at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, where they improved a Java genomic best linear unbiased predictor for plant offspring genotype yields 11x with effective multi-threading, authored a scalable C++ search tool replacement for grep to search TB sized directories, and engineered a scalable C++ data archival utility replacement for tar to bundle and move TB sized directories. In 2017, they worked as a Data Analyst at AbbVie. From 2018 to 2022, they worked at 23andMe, first as a Senior Software Engineer IV, Health Machine Learning, then as a Senior Software Engineer III, Health Machine Learning, then as a Software Engineer II, GWAS, and finally as a Software Engineer I, Algorithms. Currently, they are a Senior Software Engineer, Platform at Recurrency.
Ryan Chui received their Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Washington in 2016. Ryan then went on to receive their Master's Degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2017.
