David Mauro

David Mauro is a seasoned executive in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer at Recursion since June 2023. Previously, David held the Chief Medical Officer position at Codiak BioSciences from May 2022 to June 2023, and at Checkmate Pharmaceutical from February 2016 to June 2023. David also served as Chief Medical Officer at Prelude Therapeutics between May 2019 and October 2021, and at Advaxis, Inc. from October 2014 to February 2016. Earlier in David's career, leadership roles included Executive Director of Oncology at Merck from December 2008 to October 2014 and Director positions at BMS and BD. David's foundational medical training was completed at the National Cancer Institute as a resident in Anatomic Pathology from July 1996 to July 2000. Academic credentials include an MD and Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Temple University - Lewis Katz School of Medicine and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Cornell University.
