Data Science Practice Lead at Red Alpha

Matt Hutchinson is the Data Science Practice Lead at Red Alpha. Prior to joining Red Alpha, Matt was a Managing Member at Cybix Systems, LLC from September 2011 to November 2015. Matt engineered an employee buyout of Cybix Systems, LLC in July 2012 and took the firm from a $50,000 loss per month to profitability within three months. Additionally, they orchestrated a lease buyout, saving $500,000 over 4 years.

From October 2009 to March 2011, Matt worked as an Independent Consultant and Embedded Options Consultant. As a consultant, they wrote software to flexibly simulate several dependent economic variables, including correlations. This software allowed their clients to explore various economic regimes and price a wide range of complex derivatives for pension benefits cases. during this time, they also dismantled the argument of an expert witness for defense by conclusively demonstrating a gross misapplication of the Black-Scholes formula to an embedded option. Matt's client declared the subsequent cross-examination of the expert witness “a huge success”.

Prior to their work as a consultant, Matt worked as an Applied Research Mathematician for the United States Department of Defense from September 2005 to September 2009.

Matt Hutchinson has a MASt in Mathematics from University of Cambridge, an M.S. in Mathematics from Montana State University-Bozeman, and a B.S. in Finance and Mathematics from Montana State University-Bozeman.

They are on a team with Mike Kim - CTO, Lauren Elmore - Director of Resources, and Logan Brewer - Enterprise Integration Practice Lead. Matt Hutchinson reports to Daniel Ra, CEO.
