In 2008, Mallett joined Red Cedar Gathering Company as a Project Engineer and later held roles as an Optimization & Development Engineer, Director of Business Development and Optimization, Director of Business Development & Commercial Operations, and currently serves as the Director of Engineering and Business Development. In their role at Red Cedar Gathering Company, they are responsible for business development, commercial operations, contract negotiations, asset optimization, and strategic development planning for the company's gathering pipelines, compression facilities, and processing & treating plants. Mallett has a strong background in system optimization, reliability, and gas movement within the San Juan Basin.

Jake completed this program in 2005. In 2004, Jake furthered their education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Applied Mechanics, with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering.
