Ryan Lefers

Ryan Lefers is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in environmental engineering, academia, and aquaponics consulting. As the Founder and Co-founder and CEO of iyris since January 2018, Ryan has led innovative projects in the field. Concurrently, as a Co-founder of A&A Epiphany since August 2015, Ryan specializes in aquaponics consulting. Previously, Ryan served as a Research Scientist and Post Doctoral Researcher at KAUST from January 2013 to March 2022, focusing on desert agriculture and water desalination. Ryan also held the position of Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University from July 2019 to August 2020. Prior to academia, Ryan worked as an Environmental Engineer at Wenck Associates, Inc. from July 2006 to January 2013, addressing key issues such as wastewater treatment and groundwater remediation. Early career research as a Graduate Research Assistant at South Dakota State University involved evaluating technologies for air pollution treatment and contributing to related projects. Ryan earned a PhD in Environmental/Environmental Health Engineering from KAUST and a Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering from South Dakota State University.
