Matt Fellowes joined Bankrate in 2025 as CEO, bringing a proven track record of building and leading innovative companies that use technology to help people manage their money and reach their financial goals.
Named one of Forbes’ Top Financial Innovators, a Washingtonian Tech Titan, one of The Huffington Post’s “Top 100 Game Changers,” and a Webby Award winner for the Best Financial Services Software, Fellowes has been widely recognized as a pioneer at the intersection of finance and technology.
Most recently, Matt served as co-founder and advisor to BellSant, a health technology company, which was acquired by Hundred Health earlier this year. Prior to that, he founded and led United Income, a digital investment firm acquired by Capital One, where he later served as Head of Wealth Management. Earlier, Matt was Chief Innovation Officer at Morningstar following its acquisition of HelloWallet, his award-winning personal financial management platform.
Matt began his career in research and academia as a Director at the Pew Charitable Trusts, a Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and an adjunct Professor of Public Policy at Georgetown University. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Financial Times, and he has been a longstanding advisory board member at the Stanford University Center on Longevity.
He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master's in Public Policy (M.P.P.) from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Lawrence University. He currently resides in the Washington, D.C. area.
