Michael Hughes is an experienced professional in performance analysis and elite sports management, currently serving as the Managing Director at Red Zone Analysis since February 2021. Prior to this role, Michael held the position of Director of Elite Sport at Insight Analysis from January 2017 to September 2020, where responsibilities included strategic planning, business development, and client management. With a solid background as a Performance Analysis Consultant at the English Institute of Sport from April 2011 to April 2019, and as Lead Performance Analyst at both the Rugby Football Union and Insight Analysis from September 2008 to January 2017, and British Cycling from August 2003 to August 2008, Michael has developed a robust skill set in data strategy, collection, analysis, and visualization. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in Performance Analysis from the University of Wales, Cardiff, and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham.

Red Zone is a company born out of a passion for elite sport and for data and analysis. Our founders and directors have worked for decades on the ground with elite athletes, coaches, support teams and universities. This experience means that we have felt the pain of not having the right tools to answer performance questions but that we also have the scientific experience to design them. At Red Zone we aim to deliver world leading performance analysis solutions harnessing the best people, technology and data. We are hardware and software agnostic and will utilise market leading technology to deliver optimal solutions.
