Ed Nortrup has extensive experience in the field of intellectual property law and strategy. Ed is currently serving as the Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at RED 6 since August 2020. Prior to this, they worked as a Technology Company and IP Strategist at Nortrup Patents, LLC starting from January 2014. From July 2018 to October 2022, they held the position of Intellectual Property Strategist and Director at Ecosense. Ed served as a Board Member and Chief IP Officer at ODG (Osterhout Design Group) from December 2016 to January 2019, and also worked as an Intellectual Property Strategist at the same company from February 2014 to January 2019. Before that, they were an Executive Partner at GTC Law Group from December 2004 to January 2014. Ed has also held the role of VP of Intellectual Property and Associate General Counsel at Color Kinetics from 2000 to 2005, and worked as an R&D Engineer at Osram Sylvania from June 1986 to December 1999.

Ed Nortrup earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Northeastern University in 1987. Ed then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, completing it in 1993. Ed later attended the Massachusetts School of Law, where they obtained a Doctor of Law (JD) degree in 1998.
