Derek Lukacs has a diverse range of work experience in various industries. Derek is the Co-Founder of RedBrick AI, a web-based annotation platform that helps medical imaging AI companies/teams accelerate their annotation and review workflows. Prior to this, Derek worked as a SURE Undergraduate Researcher at the Autonomous and Aerospace Systems Lab, where they developed and deployed flight software and conducted regular flight testing. Derek also served as the Team Lead for Michigan Hyperloop, where they set project goals, managed design, and secured funding for the team. Derek gained experience at Lockheed Martin as a College Student Technical Specialist, supporting the Mechanical Controls team and performing failure reviews. Derek also worked at OpenLoop as the UM Engineering Lead, designing and manufacturing a carbon composite vehicle body. In addition, Derek worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Michigan, where they gained experience in biomedical research laboratories. Overall, Derek has demonstrated leadership, technical proficiency, and a strong work ethic throughout their career.

Derek Lukacs has a diverse educational background. In 2011, they obtained their high school diploma from Brighton High School. Derek then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan from 2015 to 2018. During their undergraduate years, Derek also had a semester abroad at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, where they studied Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. In 2018, they furthered their education by completing a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering, specializing in Flight Dynamics and Control, at the University of Michigan.

Derek also obtained additional certifications related to web development. In 2018, they completed the "Introduction to CSS3" and "Introduction to HTML5" courses through Coursera.

After their master's degree, Derek joined Y Combinator in an unspecified year of the W22 program. Derek also pursued a Nanodegree in Flying Cars and Autonomous Flight from Udacity in 2018.
