Kerry Desmarais has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Kerry began their career as a Substitute Teacher in the Beaverton School District in 2001. Kerry then worked as a Special Education Teacher in the Hillsboro School District from 2002 to 2006. Kerry then joined the JEFFERSON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 509-J as a Special Education Teacher from 2006 to 2007. Kerry subsequently joined the Redmond School District in 2007 as a Language Development Specialist and later served as a Student Services Coordinator and Assistant Director of Student Services. Kerry went on to work at Qatar Foundation as a Lead Teacher Learning Support, Student Services Coordinator, and Learning Coordinator from 2018 to 2023. Currently, they are the Director of Secondary Special Education at the Redmond School District.
Kerry Desmarais has a strong educational background, with a series of degrees and certifications acquired over the years. In 1993, Desmarais completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology/Sociology from the University of Oregon. Building upon this foundation, Desmarais pursued a Master's degree in Education/Special Education at Portland State University from 1999 to 2001.
Given the passion for administration, Desmarais pursued further educational opportunities with a focus on this field. In 2004-2005, Desmarais completed an Initial Administrative Licensure program at Portland State University. Subsequently, in 2010-2011, Desmarais obtained a Continuing Administrative Licensure from the University of Oregon.
Through these educational pursuits, Desmarais has developed a solid academic foundation in the areas of administration, education, special education, psychology, and sociology, making Desmarais well-prepared for professional roles that require a strong background in these areas of expertise.
