Martin Joel began their career in 1993 as the Director of Engineering for Forever Yours, Inc., where they designed and directed the development of a digital photography processing company. Martin personally programmed low-level image and data manipulation routines, a telecommunications application which simultaneously gathers images from multiple camera sites, an image compressor and decompressor, an automated photo package layout program, and a photo printer controller, all in Visual C++ using MFC. Martin was also responsible for all computer, peripheral and networking acquisitions.
In 1997, Martin Joel took on the role of Senior Software Engineering Consultant for HASCO FirstFoto, where they designed and developed software related to digital photography, including a Windows application written in Visual C++ using MFC that interfaces with digital cameras, and uploads digital pictures and corresponding data to an FTP site where a Unix C++ CGI application dynamically builds web pages from the uploaded data and HTML template files.
From 1999 to 2002, Martin Joel worked as a Senior Software Engineering Contractor for Peerless Systems Corporation, where they designed and implemented a language for use in embedded devices, wrote a Windows application for real-time editing of cubic spline curves in Visual C++ using MFC, and assisted in Windows kernel-mode driver development using Visual C++ and Microsoft’s Driver Development Kit (DDK).
In 2002, Martin Joel took on the role of Senior Software Engineering Consultant for SAFER Systems, where they added support for the Campbell Datalogger and for the Modbus and @aGlance industrial manufacturing interfaces to the company’s product, an integrated software package for chemical risk and emergency management, using Visual C++. Martin also developed a tool for uploading reports to a website.
From 2003 to 2013, Martin Joel worked as a Senior Software Engineer for Bally Technologies, where they designed and developed several high-performance simulators for assisting in the development and testing of the company’s gaming system components. The applications, written in Visual C++ using MFC and STL, and C# . NET, simulate player tracking card activities, game play, and back-end communications.
From 2013 to the present, Martin Joel has worked as Chief Architect for RedRock Software, where they designed and developed a database, stored procedures, and a Windows service for executing jobs such as for importing into and exporting from the company’s supply chain management software, in T-SQL and C#. Martin also designed and developed web applications for warehouse workers to use with tablets, for performing physical inventory and stock request fulfillment. Additionally, they were a Senior Software Engineering Consultant for Intel Corporation, where they were a member of a Scrum team enhancing Intel’s Retail Client Manager, a digital signage system consisting of Windows desktop applications, web services and web applications. Martin designed the product’s versioning scheme, modified its installers for upgrade and downgrade support, and designed and developed its component compatibility assurance in C#. Martin also mentored junior programmers and new team members.
Martin Joel attended California State Polytechnic University-Pomona, though the exact timeline is unknown. Martin did not receive a degree, but studied Computer Science.
