John Arens

John Arens currently serves as Managing Director and Head of HEI at Redwood Trust, Inc. since May 2022. Prior to this role, John worked at Divvy Homes as General Counsel, overseeing legal matters for a real estate technology platform focused on homeownership. John was also a Founding Member of TechGC, an exclusive community for General Counsels, from June 2016 to May 2022. In addition, John held the position of Chief Legal Officer and Chief Administrative Officer at Unison, a pioneer in home co-investments, from June 2016 to October 2020. John co-founded Scale LLP and served as General Counsel and Vice President of Loan Operations at Funding Circle USA from September 2012 to March 2016. John holds a JD from the University of San Diego School of Law and a BBA in Business Administration from the University of San Diego. Further education was completed at the University of Warwick.
