Reece School
Jennie Concannon is an experienced educator and entrepreneur currently serving as a Special Education Teacher at Reece School since July 2020, where Jennie adapts curriculum for grades 3 to 5 to various online platforms and employs diverse learning strategies. In addition to this role, Jennie operates as an entrepreneur since October 2022. Previously, Jennie worked at Success Academy Charter Schools as a Kindergarten Teacher and Fourth Grade Associate Teacher, effectively managing classrooms and tracking academic data. Jennie's extensive background also includes roles as a nanny and child care consultant, where Jennie provided care and support to children with varying needs. Jennie holds a degree in Children & Youth Studies from Brooklyn College and an Associate of Arts in Communications Studies from Borough of Manhattan Community College.
Reece School
The Reece School is one of the oldest non-profit special education elementary schools in New York City. It was founded in 1948 by Ellen S. Reece and was housed for nearly 60 years in the home she owned on East 93rd Street. The Reece School provides a highly academic elementary special education program for children who need more support than can be provided in a traditional public school setting. Reece students are academically capable but may be psychologically fragile or have issues impacting their ability to fully access their education in their current school placement. At Reece, children with speech/language impairments or who have emotional, learning or other disabilities are given high levels of academic, social and emotional support in a nurturing and well-structured environment.
