One of the most well-respected senior executives in the global media and entertainment industry, Jim Wiatt served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the William Morris Agency (WMA) from 1999 until May 2009. Wiatt oversaw all areas of the entertainment company, including motion picture, television, music, publishing, theater, digital, commercial endorsements, sports marketing, business development, investments and corporate consulting. The company, with offices in Beverly Hills, New York, Nashville, Miami Beach, London and Shanghai, surged to record scale and profitability under Wiatt’s leadership. During his tenure, Wiatt initiated innovative deals, including the “Mailroom Fund,” a partnership with leading venture capital firms Accel Partners and Venrock Associates and communications giant AT&T to fund technology companies. He also helped create YouTube Gold, a new web company, to create professional content. Additionally, he was advisor for such deals as the sale of entertainment company Reveille to Shine. Wiatt was the architect of the merger between WMA and Endeavor Agency forming William Morris Endeavor Entertainment (WME) in 2009. WME instantly became a major force in the media landscape.
